AS the flat turf season gets into full swing, trainer Ed Vaughan is looking forward to running a number of exciting horses.

Robin Hoods Bay finished 2011 in great form with an impressive victory in a handicap at Kempton before finishing runner-up in a competitive race at the same track.

Vaughan has been pleased with the son of Motivator over the winter and hopes he can progress further this season.

He said: “He has done well over the winter. He hasn’t grown much but he was already big enough but I am pleased with how he has filled out and strengthened up.

“He worked on racecourse side yesterday morning and went nicely. He will be aimed at a 0-85 handicap next weekend at Newbury.”

Legendary went into many people’s notebook when scoring impressively on his second start at Lingfield last month.

Vaughan said of the son of Exceed And Excel: “He is a horse we think a bit of so we are taking things slowly with him.

“He is being trained for a race at Haydock at the end of next month and I hope he is capable of winning off his mark of 83, which was high enough for a maiden winner at that time of year.”

Vaughan’s other impressive maiden winner, Solemn Oath, has been sold and will continue his career in the USA.
